The Gleeful List

In life it is truly the little things that are the big things. Last night as I laid Down to sleep I was experiencing pure glee for one lovely moment. Yes.. the pillow was cold. Total bliss for a small moment overtook my stressed out mind. A few moments later, the crazy over thinking mind came back and I was sending myself a e-mail to think about the little things in life and how in a crazy busy world the little things are what stops me in my tracks and puts a smile on my face.

This is my Gleeful List of the week.

Gleeful List April 6th, 2013
My number one this week is doodling. I promised myself I would get back to making art again. The first step is to start doodling again. With a lack of boring business meetings in my life now, I have found that this simple joy has left my life. With new notebooks and pens in hand, doodling is my #1 gleeful thing this week.

I would love it if you would share one or tow of your gleeful things this week!

Gleefully,
Nikki

A Gleeful Studio

One of my summer projects has been to redecorate my studio space. And although it is far from being where I want it to be, I have at least half done. Yup, you guessed it only the half I took the picture of.   When I made this room into my studio it was very utility room looking. I furnished it with fold up brown tables and plastic bins.  Looking back I have no idea what I was thinking. Well I assume I wasn’t thinking. Or at least not creatively. I actually spent money on my brown tables and plastic bins! Where did my creativity and the resourcefulness go when I was planning the space? It became a place I hated to be. It felt like it was a blaring objection of who I am as a person and an artist. My studio is being redone with used and repurposed items and is now a place that inspires me. It is bringing together my tow loves of vintage and color. I actually look forward to going in here now. That is important since I now spend most of my day in here. It also serves as a representation of how far my journey has taken me. I feel that I have reawakened my senses and I will no longer allow blah items in my life. Now.. to work on the other half so I can actually take a full picture of my space and share it.  But until then I pledge to banish the blah!

Love the artwork in my studio?

Today is the day I start to blog!

In a world where so many people share their thoughts for all to read.. what of my thoughts will be worth the read? Not sure.. but here they will be. I am starting out an adventure in my life. One that I knew always lied within me. Often time I tried to deny it did. But now that part, my inner artist has spoken up and refuses to be silenced. I feel as if I am on autopilot. This is just my journey and I must follow it. Today I am creating this blog. If everyday I can go to sleep at night knowing that something came from these hands... and an idea escaped from my brain into reality, I will know it was a successful day. It is amazing to me how much can come from one brain. How much more amazing would the world be if we did not silence our creativity? How amazing could I be if I let these things flow? If rejection and fear did not rule our lives? This is my journey and my quest. I will see what can happen if I push fears, norms, and statistics aside. I do not know where this will take me... but I know it is the path I am on. I will enjoy the scenery, experience as much as I can and work on ignoring my inner critic. Here we go... I am off to make something new today!
